Evan's Num-Nums
little tidbits from the world of evan

Our little munchkin had his first fun-in-the-sun day with his new arggg pirate water table and his swimming pool! He LOVED the water table - wasn't too crazy about the pool...probably because the water was a little chilly even though the temperature outside made up for it (93!). Either that, or he was just exhausted. Melissa and Marc brought Gwen over, so I'll consider it his first pool party- ha:) Check out the pics for some funny faces and some sopping wet clothes. I had to run to target beforehand to get him swim trunks and swim diapers, but he couldn't wait to start splashing once the hose started filling up his table!

Gap Kid?
Dan laughed at me when I told him I submitted a photo for the Gap Casting Call...I figured, hey - it's worth a shot! We could get free stuff! And who knows, maybe they'll love him so much we don't have to worry about college down the road (yeah, right...I know). We'll find out by April 23rd! Ha. Here's the pic I submitted...

Spin-An-Egg
We'll be painting Easter Eggs today! Yay! Evan's first time...even though he'll have no clue what he's doing or have an recollection of it in the future, it should still be comical:) We got this Dudley's brand thing called Spin-an-Egg to try out - you just put the egg and dye inside this container and push the top down as the egg spins...a friend of mine tried it with her daughter and said it worked out pretty well although dan was supposed to try to get him to spin it yesterday for 'practice'...ha. Pics to come!
Ordered Evan a fabric Easter basket from Pottery Barn Kids (love their stuff) with his name on it. It's a little chick - should be coming today! Would like to get him a couple of those Touch and Feel books since he's been into touching the pictures in his books lately:) The cutest thing is when he sits there flipping through his book going "ya ya ya" like he's reading it to himself.
Took Evareno to the doctor on Tuesday - he apparently has some allergies right now with the weather, some post-nasal-drip action going on...he gets some Benedryl before bed and, unfortunately, wakes up at about 3 or so coughing...then goes back to sleep. It's been rough! Hopefully this dreadful allergen filled weather will clear out!

Spring Break Rocks!
Just got home from Evan's very first Easter Egg Hunt! Our friends Marc & Melissa (with their daughter, Gwen) invited us to join them at some church for a hunt - so, although we knew Evan would be pretty tiny still compared to the other kids we decided to join them! Evan had a ball - even though he was dead-asleep when we got there...he loves being outside so jumped at the change to run around in the grass. We had to coax him a bit to start picking up the eggs...and then to continue trying to get them. He ended up with I think five whole eggs...ha. It was pretty funny - all he wanted to do was chew on the plastic anyway. Tried to get some good pics and just uploaded them to Picasa so check 'em out!
Also uploaded some pics from our zoo trip on Wednesday - I don't think I've ever seen so many strollers in my life...it was INSANITY. Apparently the nice weather drew everyone out from hiding and they all decided to go to the zoo! Ended up buying a family membership so we can go back and actually see more than three animals...
Check out this pic from this morning...he looks like such a little boy here - no more baby! :( Look at all that hair!

New pics are up!
The little munchkin had his 10 months pictures taken this weekend...and refused, REFUSED to look at the camera almost the entire time. It's like he knew what I was doing. Because it has been so nice here, he got to run around the yard in his onesie...which he loved of course, although the grass was quite the phenomenon to him. There are definitely a few pics of him with one foot in the air covered in freshly mowed grass!
Here's one of my favorites as he was being carried in kicking by dad...
11 months is just around the corner! I try to do the pics like right in the middle of the month, but I want to try and get his one year pics at pretty much the one year mark - in fact, KATIE, if you come you must help! :) Would like to get a good family portrait too...we don't have many of those:(

I like anything that isn't an actual toy...
Oh, and I throw small tantrums too, now!
It seems as though Evan's new favorite word is NO...it means a variety of things: yes, take that toy; sure, you can have it; smile, because it's funny; and mom...seriously? dad totally let's me!
It's true. Mr. Evan has his dad wrapped around his little finger - climb on the couch? Sure! Absolutely! Play with something mom doesn't let me have? Of course! Ha. It's quite comical, actually. As soon as Dan walks in the door, Evan is all over him...why? Because dad doesn't have the word NO in his vocabulary:)
Evan's favorite things to do right now...try to grab the remote and attempt to purchase anything that says Pay-Per-View, pull up the foam tiles and take small bites from them and pretend I'm not eating anything, turn the pages and open the small windows in my big Brown Bear, Brown Bear book, push the Radio Flyer from Auntie Katie across the living room and back endlessly, pound on Dad's Macbook keyboard like I'm communicating something, listen to the interactive Sandra Boyton books on Mom's iPad after pushing the home button numerous times first, pull all my books to the floor AND dump out my block basket right after it has been cleaned up, and finally, push my face against the awesome gate when the puppies are eating so that I can hover over their bowls and freak out Zoe (sidenote: he once reached through the gate and grabbed a handful of food and looked as if he was seriously contemplating eating it).
At almost 11 months old now, Evan is a professional walker. He and his XXW (sometimes XXXW) father-like feet trot across the floor more in one day than should be humanly possible. He wobbles to and fro making noises while wiggling his tongue (so he sounds like a choppy record) - super cute...he even mimics the sound when we do it!
He's getting so big, so fast! Can't believe he's going to be ONE in just a few short weeks!
